Protecting hardware from dust
Dust does slow, expensive damage in a data hall. Fine particles travel on the cooling airflow, settle on intakes and heat sinks, and load filters ahead of schedule. Careful, regular cleaning keeps the air path clear, protects equipment life and keeps the room ready for customer tours and audits.
Gilroy Janitorial cleans data centers, server rooms and network spaces with HEPA-filtered vacuums, low-lint wipes and methods built for sensitive rooms. In the white space, the server floor itself, we work only to your procedures: the zones we may enter, the surfaces we may touch and the hours we may work.
Data halls and server rooms in Gilroy
Server and network rooms sit inside distribution centers, food plants, medical offices and public buildings across Gilroy. Whether you manage a full data hall or one locked room behind the office, we plan the work around the room’s layout, airflow and rules.
Raised floors and under-floor plenums
Raised-floor surfaces are cleaned with HEPA vacuums and damp, low-lint mops, never dry-swept, so dust stays out of the air. Perforated tiles are vacuumed to keep airflow even, and anti-static floors are cleaned with residue-free products.
Under-floor areas, the plenum below the raised tiles where cool air and cabling run, gather dust, cable ties and packaging scraps over time. On a set schedule, and only with your facilities team’s direction, tiles are lifted one section at a time, the subfloor and cable trays are vacuumed and wiped, and every tile returns to its exact position before the next section opens.
White space and equipment exteriors
Work in the white space runs top to bottom: overhead cable trays and ladder racks where permitted, cabinet tops and exteriors, door handles and cage panels, then the floor. Crew members wear the shoe covers, gloves or gowns your site requires and use wipes dampened away from equipment, so no liquid ever reaches a server.
Running servers stay closed, plugged in and exactly where they sit. Cabinets are cleaned on their outside surfaces only, and the inside of a customer cage is cleaned only with the operator’s and that customer’s go-ahead.
Air handlers, entries and contamination control
The crew vacuums the exterior grilles of the room’s air handlers, wipes ledges and door frames where dust settles, and keeps entry sticky mats fresh.
Vestibules and corridors leading into the white space are cleaned on every visit, because that is where outside dirt arrives. Cardboard and packing material stay in the staging room, and the mops, wipes and carts used in the data hall are kept for that room alone.
Network closets, MDF and IDF rooms
Not every critical room is a data hall. Main and intermediate distribution rooms (MDF and IDF), telecom closets and small server rooms tucked behind offices carry the same risk from dust and debris, and they are often the rooms nobody remembers to clean. Many double as storage, so boxes and spare parts pile up around the racks.
We clean these spaces on the same low-particulate method: HEPA vacuuming of floors and rack tops, damp low-lint wiping of cabinet exteriors and cable trays within reach, and a clear path to the equipment. Doors are locked behind the crew, and anything stored in the room is left where your IT team placed it.
Access control and escorts
Data centers depend on tight access control, and our crews follow your rules exactly. We work from your escorted-visit schedule, sign your logs on the way in and out, carry only the tools your procedures permit and stay inside the zones you open. Every cleaner is background-checked before the first visit.
Change windows and maintenance freezes come first. When your team schedules a migration or cooling project, cleaning moves around it, and we can come back afterward to clear the dust that installs leave behind.
Support areas and pricing
Operations rooms, offices, break rooms, restrooms and security lobbies are cleaned to a polished office standard, with a light touch near consoles. Shipping and receiving rooms and loading docks are swept and scrubbed, and fresh build-outs can start with our post-construction cleaning before equipment arrives.
Price reflects the size of the white space and support areas, raised-floor and under-floor work, escort requirements, visit frequency and any post-project cleanup. We walk the site with your facilities lead, read your procedures and send a written quote.
A few useful answers
Common questions
Will your crew work within our escort and sign-in rules?
Yes. Crews follow your escort schedule, sign your access logs and stay inside the zones you open.
How is the area under the raised floor cleaned?
With your team’s direction, tiles come up a section at a time, the subfloor and cable trays are HEPA-vacuumed and wiped, and each tile goes back in place.
Do you ever touch running servers?
No. Only cabinet exteriors are wiped, with low-lint cloths dampened away from the hardware, and nothing is opened, unplugged or moved.
Can you clean a single server room in our Gilroy office?
Yes. Server and network rooms inside offices and warehouses get the same low-particulate method as a full data hall.
