Low tables, small chairs and a floor that doubles as a seat

A childcare center is built at a child’s height. Tables sit low, coat hooks and cubbies line the walls at knee level, and much of the day happens on rugs and mats. Cleaning has to follow that same eye line, so our crews give the lower surfaces as much care as the counters and door handles the adults reach.

In Gilroy, childcare runs out of many kinds of buildings: purpose-built centers, preschool suites in neighborhood shopping centers, classrooms inside church and community buildings, and after-school rooms tucked into buildings used for other things during the day. Each layout gets its own room list, and every visit works through it from the front door to the last classroom.

Classrooms, cubbies and activity tables

Each evening the crew wipes activity tables, low chairs, shelf tops and cubby fronts, along with the door handles, light switches and cabinet pulls that both grown-ups and children touch. Trash and recycling go out, classroom sinks are cleaned, and the paper towel and soap dispensers are refilled.

Art corners and sensory tables collect glue, paint and sand over the course of a day. We clean those work surfaces and the floor around them, so the room looks ready when families walk in the next morning. Hard toys your teachers place in a bin for cleaning are wiped during the same visit, and anything left on display stays exactly where staff arranged it.

Nap rooms, cots and rest mats

Rest areas get a quieter kind of attention. Stacked cots and vinyl rest mats are wiped on the schedule your director sets, then returned to the stack in their original order. The floor underneath is vacuumed or mopped, and window sills and shelves are dusted, so the room is fresh for the next rest time.

Changing tables and child-size restrooms

Diaper-changing stations are cleaned and disinfected at every visit, and the pails beside them are emptied and given fresh liners. Little toilets, the low handwashing sinks and the step stools in front of them get the same full treatment as the staff restroom, and the floors around them are mopped right into the corners.

Each disinfectant is left wet on the changing pad and restroom surfaces for as long as its maker’s directions call for, and only then wiped dry. For a deeper cycle on top of the nightly routine, add disinfection and sanitizing visits.

Snack tables, the kitchen and the grown-up rooms

Snack and lunch tables are cleaned after the last meal of the day, with high chairs and booster seats wiped from tray to legs. In the kitchen the crew cleans counters, sinks, the outside of appliances and the floor. The staff room, the director’s office and the front desk get dusting, trash collection and surface cleaning too.

Parents form their first impression at the entrance. The door glass, sign-in counter, check-in tablet stand and the bench where families wait are cleaned on every visit, so drop-off starts in a tidy lobby.

Floors children sit, crawl and play on

Circle-time rugs and classroom carpet hold sand, crumbs and spilled milk. Nightly vacuuming handles the surface, and periodic carpet extraction lifts the ground-in soil and stains. Vinyl and tile in classrooms, hallways and restrooms are mopped every visit. When the shine wears off, our floor care crew scrubs the tile or strips the old vinyl finish and lays down fresh coats.

Heavy floor work needs an empty room and time to dry, so it is booked for holiday closures, teacher planning days or a long weekend. Outside, pressure washing clears chalk, dirt and sticky spills from the walkways and patio beside the play yard, and no rinse water is left to run into the drains.

Who comes into your center after closing

Families trust the center with their children, and the center needs to trust everyone who holds a key. Before anyone is handed the evening route at your center, their background check is finished and on file with us. Your director gets our certificate of insurance to keep with the center’s records, showing the liability, bonding and workers’ compensation we carry. Supervisors stop by to inspect the work room by room and tell your director what they found.

To get started, share your opening and closing times, how many classrooms and restrooms the center has, and which age group uses each room through our contact form. After a walk through the center with your director, the routine and price come back in writing, and the first evening visit lands on a night that suits your calendar.

A few useful answers

Common questions

Will cleaning start only after the last child is picked up?

Yes. Visits begin after closing, once the last family has left, and finish before the opening teacher arrives. If the center stays open late on certain nights, the start time moves to match.

Who chooses the cleaning products used in our classrooms?

Your center does. Send us the director’s product list and any scents or chemicals you want kept out of the rooms, and the crew works only from that list. At the end of each visit, supplies go back into the closet you assign or leave with the crew.

Can the crew wipe down toys as well?

Yes. Blocks, hard plastic toys and play equipment that teachers set aside in a marked bin are wiped during the visit and returned to that bin. Plush toys and items on display are left as staff arranged them.

Which rooms need cleaning every night, and which can wait?

Classrooms, restrooms and changing areas see use every day the center is open, so they are cleaned after each of those days. Carpet extraction and hard-floor work run on a longer cycle timed to closures, and a midday day porter visit can be added when restrooms need attention while children are in the building.

Can you clean up after an open house or family night?

Yes. A one-time visit after an evening event resets the classrooms, restrooms and lobby, and the regular routine carries on the next night as usual.
